The Salvador is a 13-story condominium building at 199 Dalí Boulevard, at the south end of downtown in St. Pete’s Innovation District, between the University of South Florida St. Petersburg campus and the waterfront museums. DDA Development built it with MESH Architecture. The developer closed on the roughly one-acre site in January 2015, broke ground that July, and finished the building in April 2017. It has 74 residences above more than 3,000 square feet of street-level retail.

A building that borrows from Dalí

The name isn’t a coincidence. The Salvador Dalí Museum is a short walk east, and the building’s design takes its cues from the artist. According to the developer and the architects, the pixelated, interwoven facade nods to Dalí’s work, the amenity terrace draws on the egg, a recurring Dalí motif, and the street corner was inspired by his “City of Drawers,” with balconies alternating to the south and west. The building was also designed with green features, including Energy Star roofing, efficient heating and cooling, and native landscaping.
