Signature Place is a 36-story condominium tower on 1st Street South, between 1st and 2nd Avenues South, a block below Central Avenue and a short walk from the Al Lang Stadium grounds. It was designed by architect Ralph Johnson of Perkins+Will and developed by Joel Cantor, with Lendlease as the builder. Work began in December 2007 and the tower was finished in 2009, as the housing market was in a downturn. Its curved profile is often compared to a sail, and the project also includes a low-rise office building and a parking structure.

The water wall on 1st Street

At street level, the tower is known for a 60-foot choreographed water wall in the project’s small pocket park. Designed by Fluidity Design Consultants, the wall screens the parking structure while keeping it naturally ventilated, and its shifting water patterns help soften street noise.
