Bayshore Boulevard runs about 4.5 miles along Hillsborough Bay, from Platt Street near downtown Tampa south to Gandy Boulevard. On one side is the bay and a 10-foot-wide waterfront sidewalk that the City of Tampa calls one of the longest continuous sidewalks in the United States. On the other side is a mix of historic and modern homes, some dating to the 1920s. Bronze markers set into the sidewalk count off the miles, and on a clear morning you might see dolphins, herons, or a manatee off the seawall.
For many people, Bayshore is both an address and a daily routine. That makes it a natural place to think about what a primary care relationship should look like.
How close is AnswersMD to Bayshore?
The AnswersMD flagship office, Bayshore Concierge Medicine, is at 2330 W Horatio St, Tampa, FL 33609, a short drive inland from the boulevard. Because Bayshore is long, the distance depends on where you are:
- From Bayshore near Howard Avenue: about 1.2 miles by road
- From the middle stretch of the boulevard: about 1.7 miles
- From the north end near Platt Street: about 2.4 miles
- From the south end at Gandy Boulevard: about 3.6 miles
Care that keeps pace with an active routine
The Bayshore sidewalk has fitness stations, a bike lane along much of its length, and a steady stream of walkers, runners, cyclists, and people pushing strollers from sunrise on. Not everyone who lives on Bayshore is training for a race, of course. Some residents are building careers, some are raising families, and some are retired and just like a long walk with a view.
Whatever your pace, concierge care at AnswersMD is meant to fit around it:
- Longer appointments, so there’s time to talk through how you feel, how you move, and what you want to keep doing for years to come.
- Direct cell access to your physician, including by text, so a question after your morning walk doesn’t have to wait for a callback.
- A prevention and longevity focus, with executive physicals and advanced early-detection testing chosen with your physician based on your history.
- Specialist coordination when you need it, with your physician staying involved instead of handing you off.
Tower living, travel, and busy weeks
Some Bayshore residents live in condominiums, some travel for work, and some split their time between Tampa and somewhere else. An intentionally small patient panel means your physician has the time to keep track of the details, from medications to test results to a specialist’s notes. When you’re out of town, video visits let you check in without waiting until you’re back.
House calls are available on a case-by-case basis.
Your Tampa physicians
The Tampa office is home to Douglas Shapiro, DO, a board-certified family physician and AnswersMD founder, and Dr. W. Andrew “Drew” Meriwether, MD, FAAP, DABIM, board-certified in pediatrics and internal medicine. Dr. Shapiro brought together a team of accomplished physicians who share his belief that primary care should be unhurried and personal.
