Douglas Shapiro, DO, DABFM, is a board-certified family physician and the founder of AnswersMD, a concierge primary-care practice with offices in Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Boca Raton. Recognized multiple times as a Tampa Magazine Top Doctor, Dr. Shapiro has built his career on deeply personal care: getting to know his patients as well as he knows his own family, and building a bond with each of them that’s nearly as close.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Lynn University and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Lincoln Memorial University–DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, then completed his family medicine residency at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville before returning to Florida.

That personal approach is the heart of AnswersMD. Dr. Shapiro works his hardest for every patient, genuinely wants what’s best for them, and makes decisions together with them as a team. He keeps his patient panel intentionally small so appointments run as long as they need to, and members reach him directly on his cell. Care emphasizes prevention and longevity, including executive physicals, advanced early-detection testing, specialist coordination, and house calls. As the practice has grown to St. Petersburg and Boca Raton, he has brought together a team of accomplished physicians who share his philosophy and care for their patients the same way he does: attentively, warmly, and like family.

Outside the office, Dr. Shapiro’s world revolves around his wife, Lauren, their family and friends, and their three dogs, Bella, Sunny, and Scout. He believes in working hard, going out of his way for others, and putting good into the world, both in his practice and in his community, where he and Lauren support the Tampa Humane Society.
